SZPILKA WILL TAKE ON BASILE
Polish heavyweight sensation Artur ''The Pin'' Szpilka (10-0, 8 KO) will take on experienced Argentinian Gonzalo Omar Basile (54-6, 25 KO) in the headliner of ''Heavyweight Night'', boxing show organised by Andrzej Wasilewski's 12Round KnockOut Promotions in Bydgoszcz on June 2nd. Undercard of this event is full of other young, hungry and unbeaten Poland's HW hopes, such as Andrzej Wawrzyk (25-0, 13 KO), Tomasz Hutkowski (20-0-2, 14 KO) or Krzysztof Zimnoch (10-0-1, 8 KO). Week after fight with Basile, Szpilka will travel to Wladimir Klitschko's training camp to help Ukranian champion in preparations for Tony Thompson. ''The Pin'' always equals excitement. Doing time and making it an important part of his image - Szpilka openly talks about his connection to convicts' closed world and wears prison uniform for his ring entrance - adds spice to the public discussion about him and allows fans to make bold comparisons between Szpilka and Mike Tyson or Bernard Hopkins. What is life.
Never mind the bollocks - Artur's talent ain't no joke. Szpilka's a southpaw, fighting from this stance with dangling right hand and confusing his opponent with fluid foot and upper body movement. He's got power in both hands, although he sometimes relies too much on his beautiful straight left. Impressive amateur pedigree and Fiodor Lapin's astute guidance are Polish bad boy's solid fundamentals. All Pin's heavyweight fights so far were quick executions, the last being taking out Terrance Marbra in 160 seconds on March 24 th. It was Artur's fourth appearance in United States, where his fanbase is growing rapidly. Our hope needs ten or twelve rounds test now but it's doubtful whether Basile can provide it. 6'6 giant has fought most of his career in Argentina and he met really respectable opposition two times. Both of these bouts were one round disasters. ''Paton'' (heavy tattooed and known for his criminal associations - just like Szpilka) was knocked out by Alexander Dimitrenko (2006) and Marcelo Luiz Nascimento (2010) so fight against Artur doesn't look to be long affair. Still, it will be interesting to see these two mad characters going at each other.
