THE OUTCOME

On May, 22nd at around 9:00pm, the long awaited Heavyweight bout between Adam Kownacki and Yohan Banks took place. The city of Tunica, MS had an opportunity to witness something special in the young Kownacki. Kownacki from Greenpoint NY, by way of Lamza Poland treated the fight fans of Mississippi to something they will never forget. The bell rang and out came the two heavyweight prize fighters that seemed to collide like bulls. The young Kownacki began the fight by landing several body shots and cleverly using his jab to maintain separation between him and Banks. In the second round of the fight, Kownacki landed a barrage of bunches that seemed to stun Banks and resulted in the first standing eight count of the fight. Banks shook off the first assault and proved to be a game fighter by trying to overpower the young Kownacki. Banks used his girth and experience to try to control the fight by cutting off the ring and smothering Kownacki’s punches.

After suffering a head butt from Banks toward the end of the second round, Kownacki came out in the third and fourth with a fighter’s vengeance. He used his jab to counter Banks’ assault and counter punched every effort made by the towering giant. In the fourth round with 1 minute and 11 seconds on the ticker, Kownacki KO’d Banks with a flurry of punches and a devastating right hand across the chin. As Banks struggled to get off of the canvas, the referee stepped in to stop the fight, securing the third victory by KO for Kownacki. In his pursuit of becoming a world champion, Kownacki is off to a great start.
