MASTERNAK IS CLOSE TO EBU TITLE SHOT

Promoter Kalle Sauerland, of Sauerland Event, was very satisfied with Saturday's performance by rising cruiserweight contender Mateusz Masternak (27-0, 20 KOs), who won a clear decision decision over British boxer Hari Miles (7-5, 2 KOs). Sauerland wants to get Masternak in position for a crack at the European title, which is now held by Alexander Alekseev (23-2-1, 20 KOs).

Masternak will likely return on August 25 in Germany, although there is the possibility of appearing on the July 14th David Haye-Dereck Chisora undercard at Upton Park in West Ham. Once Masternak secures the chance to fight Alekseev, or the boxer holding the EBU championship at that moment, Sauerland would love to stage the fight in his boxer's country of Poland.
